Last Sunday we stopped at a stand that had a great selection of decorative gourds. They had an extra spooky black gourd with warts all over it that would have been perfect for carving. The gourds were priced for New Yorkers I think, so all we got was the pale green one (left) that I think is a New Zealand Blue. I will carve the large orange pumpkin in the classic Jack O' Lantern style. At another stand we picked up the orange pumpkin with green stripes. The shopkeep told us that the seeds are very tastey but I'm reluctant to carve it. Up close, the stripes almost look digital. I will roast the last acorn squash.
